Robert Parker Wine Advocate:
The 2001 Sori San Lorenzo is the richest and deepest of these 2001s. It remains cool, inward and totally implosive. Dark fruit, leather, goudron and licorice are some of the notes that begin to emerge over time. The 2001 is dazzling, but it is also very much on the muscular side and needs time to soften. I imagine it will drink beautifully for another 20 years, and that is likely to be conservative in light of the glacial pace with which the San Lorenzo ages. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2034. Rating 96/100. - Antonio Galloni –
Vinous:
Good full red-ruby. Rather mute on the nose, hinting only at plum. Then plummy, dense and deep, with strong acids giving the wine terrific grip. Notes of licorice, violet and minerals lift the wine's fruit. Comes across as the least filled-in of these three 2001s today, but this still needs time to harmonize. Most impressive today on the powerfully structured, slow-building finish. Rating 95+/100. - Stephen Tanzer –
Winespectator:
A very silky wine with berry, cedar and tobacco character. Full-bodied, with fine tannins and a fresh finish. Lovely. Seductive and racy. Very long indeed. Strength yet finesse. Best after 2007. 970 cases made, 250 cases imported. Rating 96/100.
