Bordeaux Total René Gabriel:

Extrem dunkles Purpur mit lila und violetten Reflexen. Dunkelbeeriges Bouquet mit einer schwarzkörnigen Pfefferwürze, Brombeerstauden, wirkt tiefgründig und vielleicht hat er gerade deshalb noch keine Lust sich nasal allzu intensiv zu offenbaren. Im Gaumen zeigt er dann Grösse und Erhabenheit, die Cabernetminderheit macht sich bemerkbar und beschert dem Wein Fleisch und Adstringenz. Er wirkt noch wenig entwickelt und scheint ein Spätzünder zu werden. Das Alterungspotential dürfte aber sehr beachtlich sein. Ich schätze ihn mindestens so gut wie seinen eigenen 2010er ein. Kann noch zulegen. Trinkreife 2025-2053. Bewertung 18/20. -René Gabriel-

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2015 Gazin is scented of baked plums, Christmas cake, mincemeat and plum preserves with hints of chocolate box, coffee, tapenade and smoked meats. Medium to full-bodied with mouth-filling baked berries and savory layers, it has firm, chewy tannins and a long finish. Drink Date 2020-2040. Rating 93/100. – Lisa Perrotti-Brown-

Vinous:

The 2015 Gazin has a fragrant bouquet of blackberry, briary and truffle; a whiff of bonfire smoke emerges with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with grippy tannin, quite edgy and tensile with a fresh, graphite and tobacco-laced finish that is classic in style. Superb, if missing the same horsepower of 12 months ago. This might well be closing down. Tasted blind at the Southwold 2015 Bordeaux tasting. Rating 93/100. -Neal Martin-

A dense and powerful Gazin with so much fruit and tension to the wine. Full body, velvety yet lively tannins and a very flavorful finish. So much generosity here. One of the best Gazins ever. Rating 97-98/100. -JamesSuckling.com-

Jancis Robinson:

95% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc. Mid ruby. Distinctively spicy and energetic on the nose. Not ultra-heavy but with some drive. Already evolving a bit, so with only a medium charge of tannins for a 2015. Sweet ink is the overriding impression. Drink Date 2024-2042. Rating 17/20. -Jancis Robinson-
