Tiefes, dichtes Purpur-Lila mit rubinem Schimmer. Ein Wahnsinns Fruchtpaket in der Nase, schwarze Kirschen. Brombeeren, Cassis, darunter tiefgründig, Lakritze und Trüffelspuren, erinnert in der Nase stark an den 90er! Der Gaumen beweist seine Hochform, dick, fett, reich, reife, mächtige Tannine die aber viel Süsse und auch schon viel Schmelz ausstrahlen, im Finale enorm viel Druck. ein Power-St-Julien der sich mit den allerbesten Weinen des Médocs messen kann. 07:Ein gewaltig beeindruckender, klassischer Poyferré. Wer mit den zu feinen, edelsten Grand Crus im Médoc nichts anfangen kann, sollte sich an diesen bulligen, atypischen St. Julien halten. Ist auch etwas Napa-Cabernet-Fans… (19/20). Léoville Poyferré’s dense ruby/purple 2005 is soft, round and juicy, with lots of blackcurrant fruit, plum and Asian spice. It is medium to full-bodied and, along with Léoville Las Cases and Saint-Pierre, probably one of the best St.-Juliens I tasted in this retrospective. It is surprisingly supple and accessible. Vinous:
Saturated ruby-red. Deeply pitched aromas of black cherry, currant and coffee. Sweet, silky and full, but with lovely ripe acidity to frame the dense black fruit, mocha and mineral flavors. Showing a glossy aspect to its fruit that is exhilarating, even if this deep, fairly tannic wine is a bit sullen at present, despite showing excellent back-end breadth. This is a full 13.5% alcohol; the petit verdot component reached 14.5% potential alcohol in 2005, said Cuvelier, who describes 2005 as "a year of sun but not surmaturite. Winespectator:
Dark ruby red in color, with aromas of currant, blackberry, toasty oak and light cappuccino. Full-bodied, with ultrafine tannins and a beautiful, caressing aftertaste. Touches every part of the palate. Outstanding, but slightly disappointing after such a great showing from barrel. Rating 92/100. -JS-
Jancis Robinson:
68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot. 18–20 months in French oak, 80% new. Malo in barrel. pH 3.6. Lots of Cabernet Sauvignon this year and no Cabernet Franc. The most evolved in colour of all the wines so far, not surprisingly, with quite a bit of brick and rather smudgy. Hedonistic mature aromas of forest floor and leather, with sweet spice. Senescent fruit but still so full of gorgeous aromas. Dry tannic finesse, great freshness and still has upright purity as well as great length. Mature but full of life and depth of fruit. Grainy but rounded texture. Big but not brash. Drink Date 2015-2035. Rating 18/20. -Julia Harding-
