An even more elegant nose of spicy and floral red and black pinot fruit is nuanced by subtle traces of sandalwood, Asian-style tea, soy and anise. There is fine concentration to the relatively powerful sappy and mouth coating flavors that are shaped by wonderfully fine-grained tannins on the hugely long, balanced and moderately austere finale. Vinous:

(100% vendange entier): Very deep red with ruby tones. Slightly high-toned, chocolatey-ripe aromas of black raspberry, menthol and minerals. Fat and sweet but youthfully closed; doesn't offer quite the lift of the Reignots today but this is a remarkably full, large-scaled wine for the year. A bit darker and earthier in its fruit character. Sweetness builds with air. Drink Date 2024-2033. Rating 94+/100. -Stephen Tanzer-
