Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com:
Here the cool and highly restrained nose is both more densely fruited and a bit more complex as well if a bit less elegant because like the Mazoyères this is clearly Gevrey in basic character. The spicy and overtly muscular big-bodied flavors display even more minerality on the lush but refined finish that is seriously powerful and persistent. This is impressive because it possesses imposing size and weight yet the palate impression remains exquisitely well-balanced. Rating 93-95/100. -Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com-
Robert Parker Wine Advocate:
Cedar, resin, licorice, cardamom, blackberry, and plum paste in the nose of Perrot-Minot’s 2008 Mazoyeres-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes migrate onto a palpably extract- and tannin-rich (albeit fine-grained) palate, accompanied by deep richness of beef stock. The juicy, tart yet ripe fresh fruit edge keeps this from becoming austere, as medicinal herbal extractions, iodine, peat, and crushed stone saturate the palate and leave your mouth a quiver but practically exhausted. This take-no-prisoners expression of its site should be at least a 15-20 year keeper. Drink Date 2010-2030. Rating 94/100. -David Schildknecht-
Vinous:
Dark red-ruby. Deep aromas of black raspberry, animal fur and game; this smells powerful! Then sweet, silky and very ripe, with terrific grip and verve-not to mention peppery lift-to the black raspberry and spice flavors. This very complex but youthfully reticent wine build inexorably on the back end, ultimately showing explosive fruit on the finish. Perrot-Minot picked until October 7, noting that the top sites in Gevrey-Chambertin came in at the end. Rating 93-95/100. -Stephen Tanzer-
