Robert Parker Wine Advocate:

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Volcanic Hill is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12.5% Merlot, 8.7% Malbec and 2.8% Petit Verdot. Deep garnet-purple colored, it bursts with vibrant scents of wild blueberries, chocolate-covered cherries and boysenberries with hints of sassafras, fragrant earth, vanilla pod and underbrush, plus a waft of crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers fantastic purity and depth, offering firm, grainy tannins to support the bags of earth-laced black fruits, finishing long and mineral laced. 791 cases were made. Drink Date 2025-2050. Rating 98+/100. -Lisa Perrotti-Brown-

Vinous:

The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon Volcanic Hill is dark and explosive in the glass, with real energy driving the blue/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, licorice and chocolate flavors. Deep and substantial, the Volcanic Hill offers a striking combination of the virile power this wine is known for but with the slightly soft contours of the year. That’s a pretty appealing combination in my book. Drink Date 2028-2048. Rating 96/100. -Antonio Galloni-

James Suckling:

Blackberries, blueberries, pine needles and lots of blue fruit. Full-bodied with layers of soft tannins that are meshed and finely integrated. Creamy. Bright and friendly. Drink after 2025. Rating 97/100. -JamesSuckling.com-

WineEnthusiast.com:

From the largest of the site's distinct blocks at eight acres, this wine consists of Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot as well as the star of the show. From light, fluffy soils, it shares that airiness and soft sophistication on the palate, offering earthy dried herb, bay leaf and stone within a context of cassis and blackberry richness that endures through integrated yet youthful tannin. Rating 96/100. -WineEnthusiast.com, Virginie Boone-
