Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com:
Moderate reduction renders the nose difficult to read though there is good energy to the cool, reserved and tight broad-shouldered flavors that are stunningly complex and hugely long on the mineral-driven finish. This is a seriously impressive effort that just oozes class. Rating 92-95/100. -Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com-
Vinous:
(includes some tiny grapes from old vines in Clos de Beze; 2005 was the last year in which the estate offered separate Chambertin and Clos de Beze bottlings): Medium red. Complex, soil-inflected aromas of raspberry, redcurrant, mocha, smoke, dried rose, licorice and menthol. Silky and rather delicate for Chambertin, with exotic cherry liqueur and raspberry flavors lifted by spices and complicated by a saline element. The very long finish features suave tannins and strong stony minerality. Lovely understated Chambertin with the balance to age well. Rating 93/100. -Stephen Tanzer-
Winespectator:
This is juicy, with blackberry, boysenberry and pomegranate flavors converging on the firm tannins. There's acidity too, giving this a lean, austere profile by the finish. The sweet fruit prevails, so be patient. Rating 93/100. -BS-
