Though by no means invisible there is much better integration of the oak treatment and more easily allows the spicy, floral and cassis-suffused aromas to shine. There is notably better concentration to the powerful and dense big-bodied flavors that display both excellent delineation and plenty of minerality on the driving and strikingly long finish where the hallmark youthful austerity is very much present. While patience will clearly be required this is not an imposingly structured Chambertin. Rating 92-94/100. -Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com-
Vinous:
Bright, dark red with ruby highlights. Black raspberry, blackberry, red licorice, game and flinty minerality on the multifaceted nose. Plush and fine-grained but with excellent firming minerality and medicinal reserve. Turns much tighter and tauter on the back end, finishing with saline minerality, firm tannins and terrific lift. This fruit was picked with 12% natural alcohol and chaptalized to 12. 6%. Very refined wine without any hardness. Rating 92-94/100. -Stephen Tanzer-
