Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com:
This is also quite restrained and only aggressive swirling coaxes the cool and elegant aromas of essence of red pinot, pomegranate, earth, floral and game hints from the glass. There is excellent power and punch to the broad-shouldered, intense and mineral-driven flavors that display plenty of soil tones that continue onto the powerful, serious and quite firmly structured but well-balanced and hugely long finale. This is old school Chambertin in style but without the rusticity. Rating 92/100. -Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com-
Robert Parker Wine Advocate:
Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambertin Grand Cru is deeper in color than its peers. There is a slight reduction here but underneath lies some very fine raspberry and black plum fruit, though it needs to demonstrate more delineation. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannin and then it seems to run out of ideas towards the finish and finishes a little "uninspired." Hmm ... this is a Chambertin outclassed by some of Rossignol-Trapet's less revered crus at the moment. Though it remains a very fine 2013, it falls short of how I expected it to perform given its splendid showing in barrel. Tasted September 2016. Drink Date 2018-2035. Rating 92/100. -Neal Martin-
Jancis Robinson:
50% whole bunch. Scented and spicy. Not the richest Chambertin by any means but there is Chambertin character and firm ambition for the long term. Drink Date 2023-2035. Rating 17.5/20. -Jancis Robinson-
Vinous:
Good medium red. Dark, brooding scents of black cherry and licorice accented by a blood orange high note. A step up in intensity of flavor from the foregoing 2013s, showing a silky texture but also lovely harmonious framing acidity to its savory raspberry and spice flavors. Spreads out to saturate the palate without leaving any impression of undue weight. Glistens and builds on the vibrant finish. Classy, sharply delineated wine with a light touch. Drink Date 2025-2037. Rating 91+/100. -Stephen Tanzer-
