Robert Parker Wine Advocate:
From an obviously cooler year than 2016 and 2017, VHR's 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is a terrific effort marked by hints of mint, baking spices, and loamy earth sprinkled over a base of ripe red cherries. Medium to full-bodied in the mouth, it's silky, long and harmonious, yet with a long life ahead. Drink Date 2023-2045. Rating 98/100. -Joe Czerwinski-
Vinous:
The 2018 VHR – Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon is off the charts. What a wine. Nearly seamless in feel, the 2018 possesses tremendous stature and intensity from the very first taste. Dark-fleshed fruit, menthol, dried herbs, leather and graphite are some of the many notes that saturate the palate. The 2018 is a wine that continues to blossom, exceeding even my own early expectation. This is an especially fine showing, the best yet. Drink Date 2026-2043. Rating 98+/100. -Antonio Galloni-
Winespectator:
Captivating from the start, with a gorgeous display of cassis, warmed plum sauce and macerated cherry and boysenberry fruit flavors, all supported by a racy graphite spine. Extra violet, warm earth and singed alder notes create a backdrop for the fruit on the very lengthy and well-defined finish, showing latent energy despite the heft. Very serious Cabernet. Best from 2024 through 2040. 1,100 cases made. Rating 97/100. - James Molesworth-
Jancis Robinson:
Deep purplish crimson. Rich fruit but still grainy-textured with very marked tannins. Clearly this wine is still developing. Dry not sweet. Very muscular and grown up! But still a baby. Drink Date 2024-2045. Rating 18++/20. -Jancis Robinson-
James Suckling:
Amazing aromas of blackcurrants, raspberries, blueberries, meat and black tea leaves. Medium to full body and compact, polished tannins. Creamy, velvety-textured palate that is long and persistent. Precise wine. Shows great potential for the future. Try after 2022. Rating 98/100. -JamesSuckling.com-
