An expressive, cool and restrained nose mixes both natural and wood spice with airy red, blue and black pinot fruit. The rich and gorgeously refined middle weight flavors possess excellent detail as well as a lacy mouth feel on the hugely complex and marvelously long finish. Vinous:
Good bright, full red. Musky wild berries and pungent minerality on the slightly reduced nose. Wonderfully silky and sweet in the mouth, but with terrific inner-mouth tension to its complex flavors of dark cherry, leather and spicy earth. Serious yet showy, and surprisingly generous for a young RSV. Finishes with noble tannins and superb, rising aromatic persistence. Rating 92-95/100. -Stephen Tanzer-
