Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com:

This is also exceptionally fresh with a highly aromatic nose that speaks of spicy black cherry, cassis and warm earth aromas that complement the velvety, rich and solidly delineated flavors that possess excellent power, depth and persistence on the superbly long and deep finish where a note of mocha can be detected. This is an incredibly impressive effort that should amply reward long-term cellaring yet be approachable young too if desired. Rating 94/100. -Allen Meadows’ Burghound.com-

Vinous:

Good deep red. Deep, ripe aromas of strawberry, mocha and earth. Creamy, oaky and soil-driven, showing more earth tones than primary fruit. Less fine than the Brulees but showing more tension in bottle than it did in barrel in November of 2010. Finishes with dusty, slightly drying tannins and some obvious oakiness. The chunkiest of these 2009s today. Rating 91+?/100. -Stephen Tanzer-

Jancis Robinson:

Very rich and weighed down by the vintage and ripeness much more than the 2010. Mossy and gentle sweetness. Very friendly and transparent. A little bit of muscle on the end. Closes up on the finish. Drink Date 2019-2030. Rating 17/20. -Jancis Robinson-
