Robert Parker Wine Advocate:
The 2007 Gabbro (Cabernet Sauvignon) is flat-out great. Layers of dark fruit, smoke, cured meat, cassis and grilled herbs come to life as this powerful, muscular wine gradually reveals the depth of its pedigree and sheer class. Despite its size, the 2007 Gabbro possesses exquisite complexity and a long, nuanced finish. Scents of tar, licorice and smoke provide the final exclamation points on what is truly a memorable wine. Rating 96/100. -Antonio Galloni-
Vinous:
(15% alcohol) Deep purple- ruby. Roasted, liqueur-like nose displays the warmth of the vintage: ripe red cherry, dark plum, cocoa and tar. Massive, broad and very ripe but less delineated and taut than the Nardo; the intense flavors of ripe dark plum, smoky herbs, chocolate and pepper could use a bit more life and lift. Though this huge wine starts off impressively, it finishes only moderately long, with smooth tannins and considerable alcoholic warmth. Still an infant, so it ought to improve with a couple more years of bottle age, but this will appeal most to those who like high-octane wines with plenty of punch. Rating 90+/100. -Ian D’Agata-
